Vincent Christ stands out in London’s eclectic music scene not by merely hunting high and low for the bliss of nostalgia but by delving into the core elements that have always made music resonate deeply with listeners, evoking an era where posters of pop idols were torn out of magazines and pinned to teenage walls. His latest offering, the “Fast Paint” EP, is a testament to this approach, reimagining the vibrant energy and emotional depth of ’80s pop and cinematic soundtracks with a modern twist that feels both fresh and timeless.

The EP’s standout single, “My Kingdom For A Glimpse,” accompanied by a visually engaging video premiere, anchors this collection of songs that also includes “Rain In Europe” and “A Desert Song.” Together, they weave a sonic narrative that showcases Vincent Christ’s ability to blend classic sensibilities with contemporary sounds.

“My Kingdom For A Glimpse” captures the listener’s imagination with its dynamic synths and rhythmic guitars, evoking the spirit of ’80s film scores while maintaining a sound that’s unmistakably current. Vincent’s vocal delivery bridges the gap between the heartfelt earnestness of Corey Hart and the anthemic presence of Jim Kerr from Simple Minds, creating a track that’s as captivating as it is nostalgic.

“Rain In Europe” shifts the mood to a more introspective space, with its lush, shoegaze-inspired arrangements reminiscent of the atmospheric sounds of Slowdive and Joy Division. This track envelops listeners in a sonic exploration of memory and connection, articulated with a subtle urgency that’s both moving and profound.

Completing the EP, “A Desert Song” offers a reflective take on friendship, marked by its evocative melody and Monty Carlos’ expressive lead guitar. The track paints a vivid picture of contemplation and longing, set against the backdrop of vast, open landscapes.

The video for “My Kingdom For A Glimpse” strips away pretension to offer a genuine look into Vincent Christ’s artistic world. Merging intimate studio moments with the dynamic energy of live performances, the video reveals the unadorned essence of Christ’s music, characterized by a confident ease that draws the viewer into his creative realm.

This visual narrative, crafted with authenticity, contrasts the solitary act of creation with the shared experience of performance, embodying the duality at the heart of Christ’s music. The video not only enhances the EP’s auditory journey but also connects viewers to the tangible roots of musical creation and the shared joy of live art.

“Fast Paint,” expertly mixed by Monty Carlos and showcasing Vincent’s versatility across multiple instruments, affirms his dedication to music that transcends time and genre. Each track adds to the story of an artist who is constantly evolving while remaining anchored to the foundational elements of sound and emotion. The EP’s analogue artwork, created by Rocy, visually complements the music’s depth, inviting listeners into the textured, nuanced world of Vincent Christ’s music.

With “Fast Paint,” Vincent Christ continues to chart a course through the music landscape that is as adventurous as it is genuine. This EP is more than a collection of songs; it’s an invitation to immerse oneself in the rich, layered world of Vincent Christ’s music, promising a journey that’s as enriching as it is entertaining.

London’s shadowy venues have echoed with the urgent melodies conjured by this band of late. Who, you ask, brings this audacious symphony to life? It’s none other than Vincent Christ, flanked by his ensemble of musical disciples: Samuel Jones, Louis Clark, Connor Humphreys, and Matthew Hiscock.

Now, another miracle manifests itself in the guise of a new single and video vignette for “The Name of the Pearl.” The inscrutable Vincent Christ lets his raw emotions play upon a canvas of sound; a curious amalgamation of vibrant new wave, the intellectual beats of art-rock, and the rebellious undertones of post-punk. His lilting voice serves as the guiding star in this unnerving track.

The Name of the Pearl certainly echoes with familiar strains, reminiscent of Dave Vanian The Damned and the haunting rawness of Jeffrey Lee Pierce from The Gun Club. Yet, in this track, Vincent dials down the intensity in favour of mystery and a splash of danger.

“This is dark Vincent Christ music, with a video filmed in a Spanish desert landscape,” says the artist. “The visual conveys heat, pressure, secrecy.”

The clip’s VHS dreamscape, reminiscent of memories you can’t quite place, brings a slight shiver down your spine with memories sculpted from the deepest alcoves of unsettling dreams. This cryptic silhouette, set against desolate landscapes, evokes the aura of Dave Gahan in Anton Corbijn’s classic Enjoy the Silence video…yet with a more haunting, phantasmal twist. The spectral presence in sunglasses beckons, inviting one into the abyss of the unknown. What is next?

Watch below:

Vincent, a former hip-hop producer turned post-punk auteur, has proven prolific in the last 12 months, cranking out truly remarkable music on his own terms. As ever-changing as the Cheshire Cat’s grin, Vincent Christ’s musical output evolves with a mercurial charm.

London artist Vincent Christ puts his feelings on the front burner with his irreverent songs informed by intense new wave, art-rock and post-punk. With “Bodies”, the latest single from his Galore EP, Vincent Christ moves out of his usual realm of raucous art rock and takes a more introspective spin.

An outlier on the album, “Bodies”, is a pensive ballad about the fragility of the body, and the strength of the spirit. Channeling Bowie (particularly China Girl), The Horrors, and S.C.U.M., this gorgeous, emotional track is accompanied by a DIY video memento mori of sorts. The succession of dream visions in the monochromatic offering is bolstered by Vincent Christ’s crooning, reminiscent of Dave Vanian of The Damned and Jeffrey Lee Pierce of The Gun Club. He tones it down a notch with this song, opening up a vulnerability that spawns a deep emotional connection.

“Bodies is the most honest and essential song I’ve ever released, says Vincent Christ. “I can’t tell you specifically what it’s about, it’s too personal.”

No need. The track itself hits its mark. Sometimes the words need to transcend through the power of sound.

Galore‘ contains five alluring nuggets brimming with affirmative lyrical content and an experimental glam guitar sound that convey Vincent Christ’s aims of art rock deconstruction and raucous positivity. Additional contributions come from drummer Louis Clark and mix engineer Monty Carlos, who bring analogue energy to match Vincent’s sardonic streak. Vincent, a former hip-hop producer turned post-punker, has proven prolific in the last 12 months, cranking out truly remarkable music on his own terms.

London post-punk act Vincent Christ is back, hallelujah, along with a snowballing notoriety for art rock irreverence…garnering a cult following. and a few disciples, if you will.

The swaggering “Mirrors For Thieves”, with Christ’s gravelly lead, is backed with a hushed whisper call-and-response. The sexy, smokin’ bass line anchors the song, bringing to mind a more gothic-flavoured INXS, coupled with The Damned, Talking Heads, and The Gun Club. This track is catchy as hell with its cyclical post-punk vibe and detached cool. You can almost imagine these guys gracing the stage of CBGBs in 1979, they embody the post-punk sound so authentically and with such grace.

“This is an introduction to a live sound,” says Vincent Christ. “I release a lot, but this time around I’m out to prove we can do it live! The upcoming EP also has a more positive sound than my previous work, which I think comes through in the video.”

The analogue VHS-style video clip, directed by Rocy, documents a mesmerizing performance by the band, showcasing their collective energy….and looking trés cool, to boot.

Watch these smooth gents croon below:

Originally involved in hip-hop production, Vincent gravitated to working with instruments and playing, arranging and recording himself, developing sharp and shimmering guitar tones and a bellowing baritone. This year he has already released an album, ‘Truant‘, an EP called ‘Kil St. Clare‘ and numerous singles. ‘Mirrors For Thieves‘ is the first song off an EP coming on the 15th of January, called ‘Galore.’

Vincent Christ has returned with a passionate standalone single entitled Heart of the Spider. The London-based artist blends elements of new wave, art-rock and post-punk, creating music in the same sphere as The Gun Club, The Wake, Sad Lovers & Giants, The Damned, Fad Gadget, and The Fall. Rife with sinister guitar licks and urgent drumming, this track is a vicious commentary on class disparity and the fallout of the average citizen struggling to live.

“It’s about life in the city, the mental state required to thrive in that environment,” he says. “In terms of sound, it might be my most surprising single yet.”

Heart Of The Spider follows Vincent Christ’s prolific last six months of releases, which includes the ‘Truant‘ LP and ‘Kil St. Clare‘ EP.

The DIY video, a night vision glimpse of aimless, paranoid wandering…and perhaps living in a car…was filmed by Patrick Lyons. It is as unsettling and worrisome as the lyrics imply: two generations lost in the corporate jungle, hoping for a break. It’s a nod to the art that emerged under Thatcher’s Britain…and clearly, society needs to pick up the slack.

London-based artist Vincent Christ is making a name for himself penning irreverent songs informed by new wave, art-rock and post-punk, creating music in the same sphere as The Gun Club, The Wake, Sad Lovers & Giants, The Damned, and The Fall. His newest offering, “I See Jets,” was sparked by a ghostly dream cameo from a familiar figure.

“I wrote the song after a dream I had about Alan Vega from Suicide,” he says. “In the dream we were walking to a Mediterranean town down a long, winding hillside. Everything was orange and sunbaked. We talked as we walked and stopped to watch a game of basketball. I think we were walking to somewhere where we were supposed to perform later on, but we never got there. There was a heavy sense of paranoia in the dream. That feeling, as well as some of the things Alan said, inspired the lyrics and set the tone for this track.”

The video was filmed by Patrick Lyons on a vintage super 8 camera at a historic estate in the North of England, featuring a manor house and a conservatory garden. Itself dreamlike and strange, the video serves as a link between Vincent Christ’s subconscious and the glorious landscapes of Albion; a spirit house for contemplation and communion across the veil. (The imagery, in a wonderful synchronicity, brings to mind a classic video of Frank Tovey in a similar setting and hat…perhaps Vincent Christ’s next dream visitor?)

‘I See Jets’ is a stand-alone single following the Kil St. Clare EP released on August 4th.

For those who still believe, thank Christ the sax solo has been resurrected. Vincent Christ, that is. The London-based artist, formerly a hip hop producer, has descended into the underworld towards a darker, more gothic flavoured post-punk sound with “Heart On A Chain”, the seventh single and video from his debut album Truant.

‘It’s pure VC, visceral and pugilistic,” Christ says. “That’s one reason I make music, to convey immediacy and urgency.”

Venture capital? Voice chat? Video channel? Maybe it’s all the same in the end. Vincent Christ played, arranged, and recorded everything himself, developing his sharp and shimmering guitar tones with his soulful yet sinister croon, lurking somewhere between Dave Vanian of The Damned and Jeffrey Lee Pierce of The Gun Club. With “Heart On A Chain”, he explores themes of speed, change, and disillusionment with a charming DIY aesthetic, and an effective post-punk edge.

The analogue VHS-style video, directed by Rocío Escámez, depicts Vincent Christ performing in front of a simple backdrop with a guitar, saxophone, and a French telephone…a sequence as hypnotic as the track itself.
